Configuring Broadband
Hande Communications provides support for service connection issues only. We do not provide support for your computer, your network or your connection device or devices. Our aim is to provide 100% uptime connectivity on all our services and we will assist you in setting up your connection initially.
Should the connection fail afterwards please troubleshoot your system prior to calling our helpdesk. A simple reboot or powering off and on both your PC and modem device can often repair many connection issues. Performing a simple PING test to your modem device and then to the Internet will also assist in pinpointing problems. Has a lead or cable come loose or dislogded somewhere? Have you still got a dial-tone? Is the modem on? These are just a few troublshooting tips to try.
Configuration
First, ensure your ADSL modem/router is installed correctly. Refer to the instruction manual that came with the modem/router. Next, open a browser and browse to the router's IP address (usually 192.168.1.1). You will be prompted for a login username and password. This should also be in your router's instruction manual. By default, the username/password is usually root/root or admin/password or similar. Once logged in, the screen you see depends on the brand and model of your router. You will need to browse these pages and input the settings from the setup sheet in the appropriate places. Once done, look for an option to "Save Settings and Reboot". If everything is configured correctly, your computer will be online after a short wait.
Note. Hande Communications will suspend or terminate any or all of a customer's services without notice should an account become overdue.
